The repentant Minotaur
Picasso
Woodcut
12 x 16 inches
2000

I often refer to this as my repentant minotaur. Picasso was fond of using the minotaur as a symbol for himself.
It is a symbol of strength but also unrestained passion which fed on the flesh of humans. It was a fitting description of that great artist who, it seems, found strength and energy when those around him were in turmoil.

I have often wondered what gifts a minotaur whose source of strength came from humility and love could have accomplished.
